The emotional symptoms I treat are many and varied and include eating issues and eating disorders. All of these symptoms are manifestations of distress. Some people manifest their distress through their relationship with food. Hypnoanalysis is directly designed to get to the bottom of the stress and remove it thereby removing the symptom.
Here are some of the eating issues that I treat in my hypnotherapy practice. Of course, everyone’s experience is unique to them in many ways, so do please make a free initial appointment to discuss your situation in a supportive and private place.
Anorexia nervosa is all about extraordinary and irrational fear of gaining weight, and a distorted body self-perception. It often leads to excessive weight loss. Becuase of the fear of gaining weight, people with this disorder lower and control the amount food they consume.
Bulimia nervosa is characterized by cycles of binge eating and purging. Sufferers typically consume a large amount of food in a short amount of time, and then attempt to get rid of the food they’ve eaten, often by purging (vomiting) or by using laxatives and diuretics.
Compulsive eaters are people whose hands or minds move toward food when they are not at all hungry. Compulsive eating has nothing to do with the size of your body. Compulsive eaters come in all shapes and sizes. Compulsive eating has to do with how many hours you spend preoccupied with thoughts about what you are eating and what you look like.
If you have a food phobia, you’ll have a distaste for and avoid certain foods as much as you possibly can. It may be the texture you dislike more than the food itself. You may restrict yourself to a very limited repertoire of foods, or only eat your food in a certain order on the plate. You may find yourself picking through a salad to remove a certain hated ingredient, and you may avoid eating foods that have come into contact with a certain ingredient.
